High Yield, Quality Issues in ECB Corn

OMAHA (DTN) -- With corn harvest just getting under way in the Eastern Corn Belt, producers are seeing fairly good yields but are also encountering problems with wet corn, diseases and low test weights, according to several elevator managers and merchandisers contacted by DTN.

Corn yields in central Ohio are excellent, but quality is not so good, said Steve Rausch, branch manager for Champaign Landmark, an elevator in Plain City, Ohio. In his area, Rausch said he expects many yields will be over 200 bushels an acre.
